The Romance Writers Report is a magazine for aspiring and published romance writers. What kind of information is in the RWR each month?
Industry news, updates on publishers and agents, interviews with editors, agents, and best-selling authors, articles on craft, career, writer’s life, and the genre, association business, and much more!
Romance Writers of America publishes a professional magazine each month, the Romance Writers Report (RWR). The RWR mails out monthly to RWA members, editors, agents, and other industry professionals.
The Romance Writers Report is looking for fresh voices to contribute to the magazine. If you have formerly worked as a journalist, or still do, and have a flare for writing objective, research-necessary magazine articles, then consider writing for RWA’s professional trade journal. The RWR is always open to fresh pitches on innovative and high-concept articles from new contributors. (Please note: They are over-inventoried in fluff pieces and light essays about the life of a writer.)
Authors published by non-vanity/non-subsidy publishers are also encouraged to pitch advanced how-to/writing-craft pieces at any time. To discuss article-writing opportunities at the RWR, please e-mail RWR Editor Kathleen Adey at rwreditor@rwanational.org. Summarize your experience in periodical writing and any specialty you may have (business articles; quote-intensive articles that survey authors; research articles, etc.). Also, attach a copy of the article you would like considered for publication in the magazine, if possible.
The RWR pays 10 cents per word (not to exceed $250 for feature articles) or can offer contributors one 1/2-page ad in the upcoming issue of the RWR of their choice (space permitting). Editor Kathleen Adey looks forward to working with new talent and bringing informative, entertaining, and inspirational articles to the magazine!
It also offers authors, publishers, RWA chapters, and industry professionals the opportunity to advertise in the Romance Writers Report. Click here for more information about RWR advertising.

It was great to meet you in person today, Jillian.
Thanks for the information on writing for the RWR. I’d never bothered to investigate the particulars, but I’ve been a magazine writer for 20 years, and this sounds like a good market to try.
